Best porn blocker for Android

Android lets a blocker read what's on screen, so this is the platform where the apps differ most. Here's who does what, with sources.

By the LeadMeNot team · Checked November 6, 2026 · about 6 min read

The short version

  • LeadMeNot: our pick for accountability.
  • Covenant Eyes: pick it if you want screenshots.
  • BlockerX: pick it for a Panic Switch.
  • Ever Accountable: pick it for image detection.
  • Unchaind: pick it for faith-based recovery.

Two free things first. Set Private DNS to Cloudflare's family filter (family.cloudflare-dns.com) and every app on the phone resolves through a server that blocks known adult sites.1 Turn on Google SafeSearch for cleaner search results.2 Both are three taps to undo, and nobody is told. Our Android guide walks through them.

Android's accessibility permission lets a blocker read the text on screen, inside apps as well as browsers. That's why Android blockers can do things iPhone blockers can't: keywords inside apps, blocking one part of a site inside the app itself. It's also where the apps differ most, so the table matters here.

At a glance

A dash means we couldn't verify it from the app's own site or a named review, not that the app lacks it. Scroll sideways to see every app. Checked November 6, 2026.

The picks, one by one

Our pick for accountability

LeadMeNot

On Android, LeadMeNot reads the text on screen, so keyword rules work inside apps, a rule for youtube.com/shorts works inside the YouTube app, and the apps you choose are properly blocked. Your partner is emailed when a rule is broken, Safe Wall makes loosening a rule wait for their OK, and uninstall protection tells them if it's removed.

Where it falls short: Text only: it doesn't look at images. If images in a feed are the main problem, read the Ever Accountable line.

Pick this if you want screenshots

Covenant Eyes

Screen Accountability sends an ally reports from AI-reviewed screenshots, images included, and it blocks explicit websites. On Android it can lock apps behind a 4-digit PIN.3,9,10

Pick something else if: No time limits or schedules, whole domains only on its block list, no keyword blocking, and app locking is a PIN you may know rather than a block.

Pick this for a Panic Switch

BlockerX

Blocks apps and web pages containing your keywords on Android, with daily browsing reports to a partner, an alert if it's uninstalled, and a Panic Switch that cuts off the internet.4,5

Pick something else if: Partner reports are daily summaries rather than an alert when a rule is broken.

Pick this for image detection

Ever Accountable

On-device AI watches what's on screen inside apps, images included, warns you, and tells your partner if you don't respond. Covers Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Kindle on one subscription.6

Pick something else if: Blocking is optional and off by default; it's built around monitoring. We couldn't verify app blocking, keywords or schedules.

Pick this for faith-based recovery

Unchaind

Blocks adult websites, and with Unchaind Max the websites and apps you choose, with daily prayers, Bible verses and an AI Bible companion.7,8

Pick something else if: Its listing says blocking can be turned off at any time, and sharing progress with supporters is something you do by choice, not an alert they receive.

How we chose

LeadMeNot wrote this guide, so our own app is in it. To keep it fair: every fact about another app links to its source (the app's own site where possible), each one gets a plain line on who should pick it instead, and the table only shows what we could verify. A dash means we couldn't confirm it, not that the app lacks it.

We looked at the three things that decide whether a blocker still works a month later: what you can block (not just a list of adult sites, but the apps, places and words that are the problem for you), whether anyone is told when a line is crossed, and whether a weak moment can undo it. Free built-in tools are listed first wherever they exist, because a lot of people need nothing more.

Try it with someone in your corner

LeadMeNot blocks what you choose, tells someone you trust when a rule is broken, and makes a weak moment wait. Free to try on every device you own.

Questions

Does Android have a built-in porn blocker?

Not for an adult's own account. The free options are Google SafeSearch (search results only) and Private DNS set to a family filter such as Cloudflare's family.cloudflare-dns.com, which blocks known adult sites in every app.

Which Android porn blocker blocks keywords inside apps?

LeadMeNot blocks a word on your list wherever it appears on screen, inside apps included. BlockerX's Android listing describes blocking web pages that contain your keywords.

Which Android blocker looks at images?

Ever Accountable's on-device AI watches what's on screen inside apps, and Covenant Eyes reviews screenshots. LeadMeNot reads text only today; image detection is in development.
