The short version
- LeadMeNot: our pick for accountability.
- Covenant Eyes: pick it if you want screenshots.
- Accountable2You: pick it for reports without blocking.
- Freedom: pick it for focus sessions.
- Canopy: pick it for image filtering.
Free first. Microsoft Family Safety filters the web in Edge for a family member an organizer manages, and blocks other browsers so it can't be bypassed,1 which is great for a child's account and awkward for your own. Pointing the PC's DNS at Cloudflare's family filter (1.1.1.3) blocks known adult sites in every browser,2 and anyone who knows the setting can undo it. The computer guide covers both.
For a computer that's yours, the question is who holds the keys. Here's how the apps compare on Windows.
At a glance
A dash means we couldn't verify it from the app's own site or a named review, not that the app lacks it. Scroll sideways to see every app. Checked November 6, 2026.

The picks, one by one
Our pick for accountability
LeadMeNot
On Windows, LeadMeNot reads text in browsers and inside apps, so the Adult Websites & Apps and Gambling lists, keyword rules, part-of-a-site rules and app blocking all work, with daily limits and schedules. Your partner is emailed when a rule is broken, Safe Wall makes changes wait for their OK, and Install & Uninstall Protection covers the machine.
Where it falls short: Text only: it doesn't look at images.
Pick this if you want screenshots
Covenant Eyes
Screen Accountability sends an ally reports from AI-reviewed screenshots, and it blocks explicit websites. Removing it from a computer needs an Uninstall Code, which makes it hard to rip out in a weak moment.3,10,11
Pick something else if: No time limits or schedules, whole domains only, no keyword blocking, and the Uninstall Code isn't available once you've cancelled, so plan removal before you switch.
Pick this for reports without blocking
Accountable2You
Monitors websites, searches and apps and sends your partner activity reports and instant alerts, with trigger words you set and tamper detection. Runs on Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, Linux and Chromebook.4,5,12
Pick something else if: By its own description it doesn't block websites or restrict access. If you want anything blocked, it's not this.
Pick this for focus sessions
Freedom
Blocks websites and apps on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android in sessions, with preset lists for adult content and gambling, and Locked Mode so you can't end a session early.6,9
Pick something else if: Built around sessions for work and study rather than all-day boundaries; we couldn't verify any partner or alert feature.
Pick this for image filtering
Canopy
Real-time AI filtering replaces explicit images and video with white boxes in browsers and many popular apps, and it runs on computers as well as phones, with a person or an AI Ally as accountability partner.7
Pick something else if: App blocking is on smartphones and tablets, not computers; we couldn't verify keyword rules or time limits.
How we chose
LeadMeNot wrote this guide, so our own app is in it. To keep it fair: every fact about another app links to its source (the app's own site where possible), each one gets a plain line on who should pick it instead, and the table only shows what we could verify. A dash means we couldn't confirm it, not that the app lacks it.
We looked at the three things that decide whether a blocker still works a month later: what you can block (not just a list of adult sites, but the apps, places and words that are the problem for you), whether anyone is told when a line is crossed, and whether a weak moment can undo it. Free built-in tools are listed first wherever they exist, because a lot of people need nothing more.
LeadMeNot
Try it with someone in your corner
LeadMeNot blocks what you choose, tells someone you trust when a rule is broken, and makes a weak moment wait. Free to try on every device you own.
Questions
Can I block porn on Windows 11 for free?
Point the PC's DNS at Cloudflare's family filter (1.1.1.3), which blocks known adult sites in every browser, or use Microsoft Family Safety's web filter for a family member you manage (Edge only, other browsers blocked). Both can be undone by whoever holds the account or knows the setting.
Which Windows porn blocker is hardest to uninstall?
Covenant Eyes needs an Uninstall Code to remove from a computer. LeadMeNot's Install & Uninstall Protection plus Safe Wall mean removing it or loosening a rule needs your partner's OK or a waiting period, and your partner is told if it's switched off.
Which blocker filters keywords on Windows?
LeadMeNot blocks keyword rules in browsers and inside apps on Windows. Accountable2You alerts on trigger words without blocking.
